![@sirpatstew. We shot Lady Jane over the course of several months in 1984/5. I of course knew of Patrick by reputation, his notable and significant theatre career was well established at that time.
But it would be a year or two before he was cast as Picard and shot the first season of TNG.
The voice is the thing I'm thinking about tonight. The articulation, the resonance. Command. It was an unmistakable sound.
He was, with me, always a Gentleman, an acerbic humor which I loved, though he didn't for a moment suffer fools gladly, and could be a forceful energy for those that got on the wrong side of his professionalism.
Many years later we bumped into each other at a restaurant in LA. He was then, after all the intervening years and huge global success, as gracious as he had always been.
I feel very lucky to have had the experience I had with him in those early days.
"Five-card stud, nothing wild... and the sky's the limit."
